Information we may collect

We only collect what we reasonably need to reply to enquiries, provide a service, keep things secure, measure advertising or meet legal obligations:

  • your name, contact details, education direction, learning stage and message;
  • website source, first landing page, UTM parameters and Google Ads click identifiers such as gclid, gbraid or wbraid;
  • basic technical information about the browser, device, page interactions and errors.

If a formal service later requires application, enrolment or identity information, we will explain the purpose and a secure way to send it before we collect it. Please do not send passport, visa, financial, medical or other sensitive documents at first contact.

Purposes, and whether information is required

  • replying to your enquiry through the channel you choose;
  • understanding your education direction and preparing a service we both agree to;
  • keeping the website, forms and communications secure, and preventing spam or misuse;
  • understanding whether the website and advertising bring genuine enquiries;
  • meeting legal, regulatory or dispute-handling obligations.

Apart from fields marked as required, you can choose not to give us other information. Without a name and a usable contact detail, we may not be able to reply. Sending an enquiry does not sign you up for general marketing or newsletters.

Who may receive information

  • authorised Edustar team members who need it to handle your enquiry;
  • providers of website, communications, email, analytics, advertising or security services, including Vercel, Cloudflare, Google Analytics, Google Ads and Resend;
  • a relevant school, education provider or other legally authorised professional, after you ask for or agree to it;
  • a person or body where required by law, a court, a regulator or to protect lawful interests.

We do not sell personal information. Some providers may process information outside New Zealand; we apply reasonable safeguards under applicable New Zealand privacy requirements. We do not send names, phone numbers, email addresses, chat identifiers or messages from our forms to Google Analytics or Google Ads.

Children, and information collected indirectly

Our enquiry form is mainly for adult students, parents and guardians. If you give us information about a child or another person, please only include what is reasonably needed for the education enquiry.

Where we collect personal information from someone else, we will take the steps that are reasonable in the circumstances — unless a legal exception applies — to make sure the person (or their parent or guardian) knows the information has been collected, why, who is likely to receive it, who Edustar is and how to contact us, and their rights to access and correct it.

Retention and security

We keep information only while there is a lawful purpose, service need, security requirement or legal obligation, and then delete or anonymise it. Formal client information is kept in line with the service agreement, professional obligations and applicable law.

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information against loss, unauthorised access, misuse, alteration or disclosure, but the internet, email and messaging apps cannot be made completely secure.

Access, correction and complaints

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct anything that is inaccurate. Email the Edustar Privacy Officer at contact@edustar.co.nz with the subject “Privacy Request”.

If you have a concern about how we handle your information, please contact us first. You can also complain to New Zealand’s Office of the Privacy Commissioner (privacy.org.nz).

Privacy incidents and policy updates

If a privacy incident may cause serious harm, we will assess it under the Privacy Act 2020 and, where required, notify the people affected and New Zealand’s Privacy Commissioner.

We may update this policy when website functions, providers or legal requirements change, and the page will show the new last-updated date.
